ECAC Northeast Bowl Champions

Congratulations to Coach Vosburgh, his players and coaches on winning the ECAC Northeast Bowl Championship! Despite the 20 degree weather, snow and winds gusting 20-25 mph, the team rose to the top in defeating a good 7-2 Husson team. Hats off to Tommy Hammell, the ECAC MVP, all of the seniors and underclassmen, for leading the team to victory. This game was a TOTAL TEAM EFFORT!
Thanks to the 25 or so parents who braved the winter conditions and made the trip to Bangor, Maine. Your voices were heard throughout the game and the players appreciated all of the support and the bags of goodies for their ride home.
Once again...there are no better parents than those whose sons play SJFC football! Thanks for the four great years of friendship!

Husson University...Here We Come!

We feel bad that the bus trip didn't come about as we ended up with less than 15 by the time Wednesday evening rolled around. However, to those who will be traveling the jaunt to Bangor, Maine to see our boys play for, some of us, the last time in Cardinal colors, let's hope and pray it is a safe one!
As Sarah and I wind down our four years of Cardinal football, we just can't believe the number of GREAT people we met --and now can call friends forever! It just seems like yesterday we brought our son to opening day, met Coach Vos and Coach Faggiano, and wished our son good luck! Believe us...enjoy every day...it goes by too fast!
The great times we had with all of you mirrors the type of families that are part of the rich tradition of Cardinal football at SJFC. Times like this are not measured by championships, NCAA appearances, wins, losses, snaps taken, catches, made games played or games not played. Cardinal football is about developing friendships....for our sons as well as the parents.
Thank you to all who supported the Fisher Tailgates, thanks to Tony Leone and the crew that built the foundation for our Tailgates back in 2002-2003...Thank You...they have been an integral part of the Fisher Football program.
Hopefully, the tailgates will continue and the SJFC Football Boosters that has been crafted this year will help to continue the great tradition for your sons.
We hope to see you in Bangor, Maine...THINK WARM.....if not...keep watching for the Banquet Information to come in late December. Also, we once again will be planning a pre-banquet Get-Together at The Landing in Fairport the night before the banquet as we did last and ALL of you will be invited.

Utica College Tailgate Information

Fisher Parents and Families...

Just a quick note and a few reminders....

Before game tailgate: We will be in Parking Lot A at 10:30am to begin the Utica pre-game tailgate. Feel free to bring a dish to pass! Sounds like we may have a packed house!

Utica Post Game Tailgate at the Roselawn:
If you haven't sent us your reservation... we need to know ASAP. Right now we have 62 parents/family members attending... plus the players, coaches and support staff. I've attached the information again... if you have misplaced it. We need a definite reservation by no later than the 28th (Tuesday). If you plan to go... call or email us with name and number attending (adult vs. children)... then drop a check in the mail. All information is on the attached form.

I've also attached the modified tailgate sign up for this week. Parents of the Boosters will provide drinks and desserts only. The Roselawn does put soda out.... but most of the players prefer Gatorade. There isn't dessert included... to keep the price low. Please let me know by Wednesday evening what you would like to bring. Don't feel like commiting yourself... just sign up for "Surprise"!

Senior Day and Springfield Pictures:
Please excuse me for not posting them quickly... between the two photographers and the game photos... it will take me a couple of days to sift through the 500+ pictures... deleting the bad and cleaning up the good (this is my usual routine... but not with so many). Thanks again to Greg Soehner, Al Macey and assistant Emily Melnyk who braved the rainy weather to assist with those pictures... all the senior parents truly appreciate your efforts!
It was bitter-sweet for the senior parents and players yesterday... thanks to all of you who decorated, picked up, set up, served and cleaned up... it was a great team effort... and wonderful event. Brian and I will definitely be available to help out next year for all those underclass parents who helped make this day special for so many.
OK... I don't know about you... but I feel like I played in the game yesterday...
I will send out last weeks Norwich photos... on Walmart... I uploaded them... but forgot to send them out... sorry!

See you next Saturday... a short trip for us... only 4 miles!

Video Slide Show from Norwich

SJFC at Norwich University 2008

Springfield game...It's Senior Day!

What an impressive win on Saturday! The "belief" in winning is back! The table has been set....now its time to take care of business.

Hello Fisher Fan Faithful’s!

What a beautiful ride to Northfield, Vermont... for the commanding Fisher FB Victory over the Cadets of Norwich University. The scenery was still awesome even though we missed peak season by about 1 week. For those of you who weren't able to make the long journey... check out the photos on Webshots and/or Walmart... the opening ceremonies were quite impressive!

Pro Bowl Tickets:
Please turn in any sold Pro Bowl Tickets before the start of the Springfield game on Saturday, October 25th. This can be done by mailing your ticket stubs and check (payable to SJFC Football) to:
SJFC Football Office
Attn: Coach Parks
3690 East Avenue
Rochester, New York 14618
or drop off tickets/check to the Football office or coaching staff prior to kickoff on Saturday. This is the primary fund raiser for the Football Program... so your support will be greatly appreciated.

Springfield Tailgate:
We have a little surprise in store for this week... the Boosters have ordered subs, will have "make your own" sundaes and delicious Fisher cake at the post game tailgate. Our plan is to make the post game celebration special for our seniors, their parents and families... as well as our supporting cast of juniors, sophomores and freshmen.
You will see from the attached tailgate chart... that we will still need some hot dishes, salads, hot and cold beverages, chips, sundae fixings and helpers. I hope you can help us out by bringing something to share.
For those tailgate 'usuals'... you will probably see your name plugged into help with a pregame or post game helper job. I hope my 'assignments' are OK... and you can help us out. If you can't... just drop me a line and I will ask another person to fill your job.

2008 Senior Parents:
This is it... the last regular season home game! Break out your favorite Fisher Fan gear (sweatshirt, jersey, t-shirt) and plan to meet us in front of the football field scoreboard by no later than 12:15 p.m. We will take senior parents and family photos at that time. At 12:30 we will 'line up' for introductions which will begin around 12:45. As in the past parents, grandparents, siblings, etc. can accompany the player onto the field.
After the game... be sure to join us for food, beverages, cake and ice cream in "the classroom".

Utica College Buffet Tailgate:
We have arranged a buffet meal at the Roselawn Banquet House (about 3 miles from the college) after the game. Players and coaches will be guests of the college/football program. Parents, friends and family can enjoy the buffet at the low cost of $10.00 per person (under 10... $5.00). Attached are all the details. This is Fishers second trip to the Roselawn... and with it being "all you can eat" ... the players and families certainly got their monies worth.
Reservations must be made by no later than October 27th. If you want to save yourself a stamp... hand deliver it to us at the Springfield game.

Or send the reservation form with payment to:
Brian McQueen, SJFC FB Boosters
10 Bermuda Road
Whitesboro, New York 13492

We will still need beverages and desserts for this meal. I will send out my usual "away" tailgate chart next Sunday.

Well... that's all folks for now... thanks for your patience with my lengthy emails... see you on Saturday.

Go Fisher Cardinals!
