Great Weekend Wins for the Cardinals

CONGRATULATIONS to both the Varsity and the JV Teams on their impressive wins this weekend. Also, a BIG THANK you to the Coaches, Players, Parents and the entire Central New York Parent Fan Club for their efforts with the Tailgate at the Roselawn Party House on Saturday. It was great to meet many of the faces that we've seen at game, but never knew the names. We applaud you for what you've done to build the Cardinal Football support group. A special thank you to the CNY parents that chipped in for the desserts...what a BIG hit! AND...thanks to Loretta for making the candy treats and table decorations for the players and coaches. You are ALL too kind!

JV Game: Still up in the air...we heard the game will be played at 3:00pm in Ithaca. However, this MAY change due to Ithaca not having lights on their field. As soon as we hear the correct information, we will place it on the blog. As for the JV tailgate, Betsy Edwards would like to contact her via email ASAP to let her know what parents will be coming to take part. If there are not alot of parents we may need to do a dessert and drink tailgate for the players. The players will have bag lunches from the school. Contact Betsy at: bedwards@newfieldschools.org.

Thanks to ALL of the parents that donated food for the tailgate today. Having the adults as servers on the buffet line sped up the process of feeding both teams. Once again the Cardinal Family showed their class by feeding a very hungry Niagara team!

Today's game became a part of SJFC Football history. Thanks to our coaches and players, the 8 wins marks a college record for most wins by a SJFC JV team. Congratulations on this milestone and let's close the door on this historical season by beating our rivals from Bomber country. Parents and Fans....we will need ALOT of noise at this game...cow bells, loud voices and positive cheering for our team.

Utica College Tickets

Parents:

Coach Faggiano informed me that he is bringing 100 tickets for the parents with him on Saturday morning.

Tailgates for Varsity/JV

Are you ready for some Football???? Loretta is still in search of some items for both tailgates. The varsity needs more gatorade for after the game and and the JV's are still in need of more items. Please check your emails for the specific items.

Varsity Tailgate at Roselawn! We will have two Buffet Tables set-up. One will be for the coaches, players and their families. The other one will be set-up for the families and guest of the players. This should speed up feeding everyone so they can get on the road!

Varsity.....bring your wool clothes....20-30 MPH winds, rain and wet snow are in the forecast.
Wild Weather Possible this Weekend (Updated Friday 11:30AM)

CNY Weather Update!

A storm system coming out of the Midwest Thursday will gather strength over the Mid Atlantic states on Friday afternoon and evening. It will proceed to lift northward over us and into Quebec on Friday night and Saturday, strengthening all the way. This will have significant implications on our forecast in three or four phases.
Heavy Rain
Some showers may arrive over CNY as early as this evening for some of our southern viewers. Rain develops night, possibly becoming heavy early on Saturday morning and into Saturday afternoon. At this time, our computer models are advertising anywhere from 1 to 2 inches of additional rainfall. Since we have seen significant rainfall this month, there is the possibility of flooding, especially in the Mohawk River basin. If you live along the Mohawk River, West Canada Creek, East Canada Creek or other streams and creeks that feed into the Mohawk that saw near-flood or flood conditions last week, you need to stay tuned to the forecast as renewed flooding could occur. Flood Watches are possible as well, so stay with wktv.com for the latest.
Wind
As this storm lifts off to the north, it will greatly strengthen. This will tighten the pressure gradient across Central New York, meaning a period of strong winds late Saturday and into Sunday. Winds are likely to be pretty strong here, sustained at 20-30mph, coupled with the heavy rain could cause some localized damage. Winds could gust as high as 40-55mph especially in some of the higher elevations. The National Weather Service has issued a high wind watch for Lewis County in effect from Saturday night into Sunday morning. I wouldn't be surprised if one was issued for the general viewing area later on today. We'll keep you posted.
Heavy Snow?
As this storm system moves over us and strengthens, the heavy rain we see could end as a brief period of heavy snow on Saturday evening, possibly providing a "surprise" accumulation across parts of Central New York.
Lake Effect Snow
http://bimedia.ftp.clickability.com/wktvwebftp/map2.jpg -preliminary forecast
Starting late Saturday night, the atmosphere will become favorable for lake effect snow to develop across the North Country, including the Tug Hill Plateau and western Adirondacks. Places like Old Forge, Boonville, and Camden could see their first significant accumulating snow of the season. The setup is favorable for heavy snow to develop Saturday night and linger for most of the day Sunday before slowly dropping south and weakening Sunday night and Monday. In terms of accumulation, it's far too early to say, but if our current computer model forecasts were to verify, 6-12" of snow would be possible in the North Country (Tug Hill/Western Adirondacks) on Sunday. For the rest of CNY, scattered snow or rain showers are possible Sunday afternoon, depending on elevation, but accumulation is not likely. There could be light accumulations of snow across the rest of CNY on Sunday and Monday morning however. Snow, combined with strong, damaging winds on Sunday will make travel extremely difficult in the North Country. If you have plans, stay tuned to the forecast for updates and changes today and Saturday.

Hi there JV Football Family! Way to go! Another win!On to another home game!

Please keep in mind we fall back - time change on Sunday and that it's a 3pm game!
Niagara will be our guests at our tailgate so there is an increase on the list this week. There seems to be a need for additional hot dishes - crock pots work well! Gatorade seems to be in demand as well.

That will be limited to one side of the table. There are many players that need to see the trainers after the game. Some have come back to an empty table.

Let's show Niagara how our Fisher Football Family tailgates!
Thank you for all your support!

Springfield Game-Thoughts from Loretta

Hey Fisher Football Family -- What a weekend!! Wins across the board!
Way to go Cardinals!! Let's keep it goin' into this weeks games. Both promise to be exciting games!
Let's fill the stadium and cheer them on! Grab those bells -- bring a friend & you loudest voice and get you cheer on! We also hope all is well with our Buffalo area family members and that this finds all safe & warm! You are in our prayers!

This week our seniors will be playing there last regularly scheduled home game. Come early to cheer them on in our pre game ceremony. We will miss them all!

We are changing the menu a bit this week --- we are asking for hot pasta dishes instead of hot dogs this week. Bring a sterno set up if you have it or just wrap the hot dish well place it in an insulated container. This will keep it warm for the tailgate .
Also added make you own sundaes & a chocolate fountain. We are looking for items to support the new additions.

Again as always thank you all for your support! As a parent of a senior this will be a special & emotional day for me. I'd like to thank you all for all you give to the program -- it far exceeds you monetary support, which is amazing. It's easy to see where the fine character & integrity come from that I see each week in every one of our players. I thank you for allowing me to work with you all throughout these years. I will miss you all!

Go Fisher !!!
Beat Springfield!!!
Best of luck to our Seniors!!
The world awaits!

Congratulations Varsity and JV Teams

Once again both of our Cardinal Football teams came away with victories in their respective games this weekend. The Varsity beat the Norwich Cadets while the Cardinal Junior Varsity won an overtime thriller against the undefeated Hobart JV's. Now we can rest for a day and prepare for one of the toughest Varsity games of the year...Springfield...Saturday in OUR HOUSE!
The team will need a great deal of support from the stands so that means the more noise the better. Good luck to the coaches and players this week.
On Sunday the JV's will play another tough opponent who will be looking for revenge in the name of the Alfred Saxons....WOW...who needs TV when we can get such great games at SJFC!
A BIG thank you to all the parents who supported the tailgates this weekend. The new information will be out shortly.
