CONGRATULATIONS...Brennan Fortune!

Write-up taken from SJFC Athletic WebSite:

Brennan Fortune of the St. John Fisher College football team has been selected to play in the 11th annual Aztec Bowl on December 8th in Chihuahua, Mexico.

Each year, the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) selects a team of NCAA Division III athletes to compete against a team of Mexico’s top collegiate players. The game has been played 37 times since 1947, with the last 10 games featuring the United States-Mexico matchup. The United States is 9-1 in the all-time series, and won last year’s meeting 28-7 in Aguascalientes, Mexico.

Fortune is a three-year starter who has been instrumental in the Cardinals’ offensive success. The 6-foot-3, 310-pound offensive tackle has paved the way for a potent Fisher rushing attack that has gained 2,278 yards and scored 30 touchdowns this season, and has also been dominant in pass-protection, allowing Fisher quarterbacks to pass for 2,398 yards and 27 touchdowns. The senior captain has also drawn attention from scouts at the next level due to his strength, technique and solid footwork.

Fortune is the third player from Fisher to be selected to play in the Aztec Bowl. Noah Fehrenbach and Matt Keem were the first two selections.

Over his four-year career, Fortune and the Cardinals have amassed a career record of 41-8, including a 6-2 record in the NCAA Championship Playoffs, making this year’s senior class the winningest class in program history. After a 24-7 victory over Hobart in the opening round, and a 38-7 win over Curry College in the following round, the Cardinals (11-1) have advanced to the Regional Final for the second consecutive season, and will take on defending National Champion Mount Union (12-0) at noon on Saturday in Alliance, Ohio.
