8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. We will set up indoors if the weather is inclement. Otherwise we will set up outdoors behind the coaches office. The final decision is usually made
around 11:00 a.m. If you can help us set up the classroom or tables outdoors... your help will be appreciated.

quickly. Check Out Those End Zone Crazies!!!!!!!

to travel down the recently paved access road (just past the SLC driveway)...
and you can park in back. The parking lot should be complete by Saturday
and ready for the Fisher FB Frenzies!

Once again the Fisher Football Family has shown it's caring nature for one
of their own. We raised $400.00 this past weekend in donations at the Varsity
game.
We will be sending a card with the donation to Brandon Fox' Family on behalf of SJFC Football Boosters. If you didn't get a chance and would like to send a card and/or donation to Brandon and his family, the address is: Our Thoughts and Prayers are With the Family

Final Thanks:
Brian and I want to thank all of the parents and family members that helped
out (as they do every week) at the Ithaca tailgate. As most of you know...
we had to be at a dinner in Buffalo by 7:00 p.m. We made it in plenty of
time! Thank you to everyone who set up, cooked, served, cleaned up, sold Fan
Gear and/or manned the donations table. Your help did not go unnoticed... and
is definitely appreciated.

Finally:
My pictures will be posted later tonight... after I download and crop them. If you would like to have access to printing them at Walmart... send me an email. Don't forget the man on the other side of the field... Greg Soehner... he also takes pictures at the varsity games and will posts them on Snapfish. Thinking Ahead! Norwich Game Away

I contacted the Comfort Inn and Suites in Montpelier, VT. to see if we could block rooms like we did in Alliance. This hotel is only 6 miles from the campus. Since this is their peak time with foilage, they couldn't do this for us. They did say that they had about 12 rooms left and would take it on a first come first serve basis depending on availability. The cost for the standard and king rooms is: $130.49 plus tax. The number to call is: 802-229-2222 and let them know you are with the SJFC Football Boosters. Good luck...many of the hotels are 25-30 minutes away so we had to jump at this one. It has an Applebees close by, lounge open nightly, and a deluxe continental breakfast.

Ithaca Tailgate

Calling ALL Cow bells!!!!!

Hello Cardinal Fans,
I hope some of you got to see those smiling faces at the Courage Bowl trophy
presentation.... from the little guys - Joe, Joey and Mitch... to the big
guys... those smiles couldn't be any wider. Let's hope those smiles continue
this week and for the rest of the season.

Ithaca Tailgate Sign Up:
We will be cooking up hot dogs this week! We will need volunteers to cook,
help serve and cleanup... please add your name to the list of helpers. Brian
and I have a retirement dinner to go to in Buffalo... so need to leave ASAP
after the tailgate. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
We have some items in the freezer... that fared well over the last 3
weeks... we will bring those this week. We will need a few more items... beverages,
side dishes, chips and desserts. Please let me know your contribution by
8:00 on Wednesday night. I will try to send out the final list later on
Wednesday... as I have a education conference during the day, hospital dedication
after school and Open House at night on Thursday... with about 10 minutes to
spare sometime!

Watch the weather... we may need canopies - if we are outside and there is a
threat of rain. Location of the tailgate will be announced in the final
tailgate.

Fan Gear and Spirit Items:
Our inventory is going fast... only few items remain! If you wish to
purchase something... see the updated inventory attached. Send me an email and I
will save it for you. You can pick it up at the Varsity post game tailgate or
JV tailgate from Cindy Hendrickson. We will not be reordering... so get
your items while they still remain.

Upcoming Events:
Norwich University Game - October 18th
We are working on the Norwich, Vermont game housing. There is limited
hotels in Northfield (home of Norwich University). Most are Bed and Breakfast
type. We are in the process of obtaining a price for the Boosters at the
Comfort Inn in Montpelier, VT. We will be finalizing the price with the manager
tomorrow... as soon as we make confirmation we suggest you call and reserve
yourself a room. You will get an email after we confirm the price at the
Comfort Inn.

Senior Game vs. Springfield - October 25th:
Senior parents... don't forget to save the 25th as a special day to honor
our seniors. I will be mailing a letter to all senior parents outlining the
day. I do not have email addresses for all of our senior parents and want to
make sure I inform everyone.

2009 Football Season:
Junior and Sophomore parents... start to think about the 2009 Football
Season of Tailgating. If you think you would be interested in orchestrating this
effort for the Varsity team... please drop me a line. We can bring you on
the team early - so we can have a smooth transition to next fall.

Have a great week everyone... see you on Saturday!

Courage Bowl Tailgate Information

Hello Fisher Fan(atics)! HUGE Game Coming Up Saturday...We do it for the kids at Camp Good Days!

Thank you so much for all the help setting up, serving, and cleaning up
after the tailgate last Saturday. Also thanks to those generous Fisher
parents who bought and prepared food for the tailgate. I know the players really
appreciated a meal at that late hour. Fisher parents are second to none!

Courage Bowl Post Game Tailgate for Players Info:

OK... by now you know the routine the chart is attached for you to
review... select something to bring and then email us with your choice. Please
respond by 8:00 on Wednesday night. Thanks. After talking to Coach Vos today.. we found out that the college (SJFC) will not be providing them with a meal for this "away" game. Therefore, we have decided it's "pizza time" again! We could serve hot dogs but the late
hour and lack of light made us think pizza again. After this week we have
three daytime home games where we will grill up some dogs!

We will be serving up the tailgate back at Fisher in the double
classroom we used last week. Brian and I will set up the classrooms before we head
out for the pre game tailgate. I would suggest that everyone keep their
contributions until after the game and bring them to the classroom then. Without
being on the campus I would worry about security of the room/food.

Pre-Game Tailgate Info:
John and Pam Pierri, parents of Senior Chris Pierri (#90 - Kicker), have
graciously agreed to having us enjoy a meal and beverage before kickoff on
Saturday night at The Landing in Fairport. The Pierri's own and operate this
sports bar. The food is great and very reasonable. We will plan to meet there
at 3:30 p.m. This invitation is open to everyone... please come and join in
on the fun!
Check out the menu and address information on the web at:
http://www.thelandingbarandgrille.com/

Fisher Cowbells for Sale:
Cindy Trapper (#40's Mom) sent us an email that JoAnn Fabrics have cowbells
for sale for the low price of $4.99... and that you could get 40% off if you
use the coupon in last Sunday's paper... (usually you can get the coupons
online, too). Let's make some noise Fisher... this week is very special... for
Rochester bragging rights... and a huge weekend for the kids/families of Camp
Good Days and Special Times. Thanks for the info Cindy.

Leftover Food:
If you have hot dogs or rolls in the freezer... as we didn't need them for
the Morrisville Scrimmage... please drop me an email. I will automatically
add you to the chart for the Ithaca College game.

Player and Team Pictures:
If you are interested in ordering the formal player and team pictures...
used in the media guide and on the SJFC football website... go to the following
website...
http://cardinalsportsimaging.com/ password: pix

Game Pictures;
You can view my pics at the Webshots address below... or at Walmart.com.
You will need to be invited to my Walmart albums... just drop me an email and
it will be done. Greg Soehner (son Pete #77) has some great photos to share, too. He has a
totally different perspective - as he took several of his from across the
field. You can access his photos on Snapfish by sending him an email at:
gsoehner@rochester.rr.com

Fan Gear and Spirit Items:
The updated inventory... we sold a "ton" of items last week... it is
attached...so get them while they last. We won't be reordering. If you would like
me to reserve an item for you... drop me an email and you can pick it up
after the U of R game at the tailgate.

Finally... Tailgate Signs:
Security has given us permission to park in the back and in front of the SLC
if we show the tailgate sign that will come with the final tailgate list on
Thursday. Just print it and place it inside the front passenger side window.
If you forget... we will bring extras to The Landing (Pierri's Sports Bar).
Ok... I think that is all for now! Whew! Have a great week and see you on
Saturday.

Courage Bowl Events...

St. John Fisher College & University of Rochester Saturday, September 20, 2008 - 7:00 PMFauver Stadium - University of Rochester River Campus
Mendon, NY ~ Courage Bowl IV, the annual football game between the St. John Fisher College Cardinals and the University of Rochester Yellowjackets, dedicated to the children of Camp Good Days and Special Times, will be played this year at Fauver Stadium on the University of Rochester River Campus. Once again this year, the Courage Bowl will be broadcast LIVE on WROC TV-8, as well as on WYSL News1040AM and WHTK Hot Talk 1280AM.
As part of the Courage Bowl, Camp Good Days will select six campers, three per team, who have all been battling cancer, to serve as this year's Honorary Coaches. The Honorary Coaches will be invited to a practice with the team during the week leading up to the game, where they will meet their fellow coaches and players. On game day, the three Honorary Coaches for the University of Rochester will meet their team at their campus and attend the pre-game meal. The three Honorary Coaches for St. John Fisher College will meet their team on campus, attend the pre-game meal and travel with the team to Fauver Stadium. All six of the Honorary Coaches will be in the locker room with their teams; lead their teams on to the field at Fauver Stadium; and will be at mid field for the coin toss. They will spend the game on the sidelines with their fellow coaches.
In addition, Camp Good Days will also select four girls who have also been battling cancer to serve as Honorary Cheerleaders, two with each school's Cheerleading Squad. The Honorary Cheerleaders will attend a practice during the week leading up to the game; meet their squads prior to the game to prepare and cheer from the sidelines during the game.
In preparation for this exciting and fan favorite game, both the St. John Fisher College and University of Rochester Football Teams will be visiting the Camp Good Days' Recreational Facility this month, to learn a little more about all the programs and services provided by Camp Good Days; tour the Recreational Facility; and spend some time with the campers who directly benefit from those programs and services. The St. John Fisher College Cardinals will visit the Camp Good Days' Recreational Facility, 58 West Lake Road, Branchport, New York, on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The University of Rochester Yellowjackets will visit on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.There will also be a Courage Bowl Tailgate Party the night of the game, sponsored by Tompkins Insurance Agencies, Inc., The Bank of Castile, and AM&M Financial Services, for all of the campers from Camp Good Days who are not selected as Honorary Coaches or Cheerleaders this year. The Courage Bowl Tailgate Party includes fun activities for the campers, dinner, and special seating for the game.
In the tradition of The Masters, it was determined that the previous game's winning school would host a luncheon the following year. The Second Annual Courage Bowl Luncheon, hosted by President, Donald Bain and St. John Fisher College will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at the Cleary Family Auditorium at St. John Fisher College at 11:30 AM. During the Courage Bowl Community Luncheon the six Honorary Coaches and four Honorary Cheerleaders will be announced and formally introduced.
"Over the past three years, the Courage Bowl has truly become more than just a game for everyone involved and has become so special to all of us at Camp Good Days, particularly the Honorary Coaches and Honorary Cheerleaders," says Mervis. "Children with cancer are generally not able to participate in competitive sports, due to their illness and as a result of their treatments, so for them to have the opportunity to be a real part of a college football team or cheerleading squad is so extraordinary for them and truly an once-in-a-lifetime experience that they will remember for all of their life." "In addition to providing this unique opportunity for the Honorary Coaches, the Courage Bowl also allows us to create more awareness about our programs and services as well as raise some of the necessary dollars to make those programs and services possible."
At the conclusion of the Courage Bowl, the Teddi Trophy, named in memory of Teddi Mervis, Gary Mervis' daughter and the inspiration behind Camp Good Days, will be presented, which will later be inscribed with the date of the game, final score of the game, names of the six Honorary Coaches and the names of one player from each team who displays exceptional leadership and sportsmanship.
For more information about Courage Bowl IV, please contact Laura Osborn at Camp Good Days at 585-624-5555 or 800-785-2135, via email at losborn@campgooddays.org or check out the Courage Bowl Video, produced by Rick Hager of Hager Productions.

Buffalo State Tailgate After the Game

Hello Fisher Fans,
I hope everyone that made the trip to Alliance made it home safely!
Thanks a million to all the parents that helped set up/clean up the
hospitality room and, pre / post game tailgates. A great time was had by all! If
you missed it... I hope you join us for the next one. It's great to meet the
parents of the fine gentlemen that play ball for Fisher... their players
outstanding qualities are a direct result of the great parenting!

Buffalo State Varsity Tailgate:
We will set up the tables (thanks Coach Fred) at 4:00 p.m.... weather
permitting! We have decided to order sheet pizzas for this week... after cooking
hot dogs in the dark for the scrimmage... we decided pre cooked pizza might be
a better idea. Payment for the pizza is made possible by those parents who
so generously donated to the SJFC Football Boosters. If you have not been
able to donate and would like to "chip in" for the pizzas... the 'football
piggy bank' will be on the table for this purpose. To give you an idea...
feeding the 'army' of football players, coaches and parents... runs around $450.00!
To compliment the pizza... we are asking parents to bring beverages
(gatorade, water), salads and dessert. Those of you that enjoy cooking and would
like to add some hot dishes... I'm sure they will be much appreciated. The
tailgate chart is attached. Remember... just email me at _sjfcfootball08@aol.com_
(mailto:sjfcfootball08@aol.com) and let me know what you will bring and
your last name. Please sign up by no later than 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Helpers:
I "stole" an idea from the JV tailgate list and added jobs that you can help
out with... it will make everything go smoother and get us cleaned up and
out of there at a reasonable hour. If you can sign up to help... that would be
awesome!

Pictures, Pictures, Pictures:
I just finished posting the Mt. Union pictures on Webshots (see website
below) and Walmart. Those of you that have emailed me to say... "add me to the
Walmart email group share"... should have gotten 3 emails to view/order the
pics. If you would like to be added to the Walmart emails... please drop me an
email providing me with "permission" to add your email to their list.
Greg Soehner also has posted pictures for you to view. If you email him at
_gsoehner@rochester.rr.com ... he will
add your email address to his Snapfish site. Wow! tons of pics for you to
enjoy!

Fisher Fan Gear and Spirit Items:
Items are still available for purchase... SJFC Cardinal Dad/Mom T-Shirts
($10.00), Long sleeved T's ($15.00), Hooded sweatshirts ($20.00), Baseball caps
($10.00), Football Magnets ($6.00), Game hats: $10.00, Football Window stickers ($5.00),
Football Mom pins ($5.00) and of course the beads ($1.00 for a set of 2)... will be
on sale before and after the game. We will not be reordering items... so get
them while they last. If you preordered an item... I have it set aside for
you. If you would like to make sure you can get an item... email me and I
will make sure I set the item aside for you.

JV Tailgates:
Cindy Hendrickson did a fabulous job emailing the jv parents about their
first tailgate on Sunday. Thank you for taking on this responsibility!
Have a great week everyone,,, I will send the final list on Thursday.

Thank You

Sarah and I would like to thank ALL of you who contributed time, food and support for the Mt. Union Game yesterday. Hope you all arrived home safely. Our first home game is coming this Saturday at 6:00pm...bring your cow bells and noise makers as we need to get the crowd into this one!
Sarah is putting together the tailgate information sheet and will send it out shortly. We will be doing pizza for the kids after the game so we will be asking for drinks and desserts once again. We will use the same location (behind the Coaches Office) for the Buff State tailgate. We will only be feeding our team, coaches and parents.

Off to Purple Raider Country!

TICKETS: Tickets can be purchased at the ticket locations placed around the field at Mount Union. This stadioum is quite large so you won't have to worry about running out of tickets.

On our long ride home this past Friday evening (or should I say Saturday morning),Sarah and I mentioned about what a GREAT group of parents we have to work with and call our friends this year with Fisher Football. You ALL should be proud of what you have done so far to make Fisher Folotball the BEST!

Dear Fisher Fans!
Important information is enclosed in this email... please read and contact
us if you have any questions.

Thanks:
A huge thank you to all the parents who helped out at the tailgate after the
scrimmage. We had numerous parents help set up ahead of time, assist with
grilling, sell Fan Gear and Spirit Items, do garbage runs, serve food (750 Hot
dogs +), and help clean up for close to 300 people. We wouldn't have left
Fisher at midnight if it wasn't for the combined effort of these parents.
Thank you so much!

We also want to acknowledge the generosity of those parents who brought food
and beverages. We were almost cleaned out of everything! We do have some
hot dogs, rolls and water leftover that we will use at the next home game
(Buffalo State). We did receive some suggestions (for ex. lighting, more hot dishes) that we
are working on to improve the tailgates in the future.

Items left at the Tailgate:
If you brought a cooler (three were left behind) and/or a crock pot to the
tailgate and forget to bring them home afterwards. We have the coolers stored
in the shed by the SLC. You can get yours at the Buffalo State game. Jean
Tatar offered to clean the crock pot and is refilling it for that game (What a classy idea...thanks Jean!) You can pick that up after the Buff State game, too.

Emails:
We apologize for any problems with the sign up last week. I think we have
the "kinks" worked out and we should be "good to go" for this week. If you
have sent me an email offering to bring something and it doesn't make the final
list... give me a call... and I'll correct it immediately.

Reminder:
Parents and family members should wait until the players have eaten before
getting in line. The primary purpose of the tailgate is to feed the players,
who have probably missed a meal and are starving!

Fan Gear and Spirit Items:
We have Fan Gear and Spirit Items on sale at the home games. I've attached
a list of the available items and their prices. If you would like to reserve
an item... drop me an email... and it will be ready at the Varsity and JV
Buffalo State games (September 13th and 14th).
We will not be ordering additional items/sizes until all of these items are
sold. We are looking for parents who are interested in taking over this
responsibility. Let us know if you're interested.
Mount Union Hotel and Tailgate Information:

us and get acquainted with other Fisher parents. Adult beverages and finger
foods (chips/dip, pizza, etc.) are appreciated and enjoyed. Bring your
favorite tailgate dish to pass. Look for the Red Fisher Football sign!
